Sales Agreement

Welcome to Ellie’s Rabbitry!

Please read my sales agreement before inquiring about a rabbit.  If a rabbit is purchased it will be assumed that you have read and agree to the terms and conditions of this agreement. This policy applies to anyone who purchase’s a rabbit whether they choose to read the agreement or not.

Ellie’s Rabbitry is not selling Mini Plush Lop breeding pairs at this time.

I require non-refundable deposits on all rabbits.

Mini Plush Lop Deposit: $100 (Average Price range: $250-300.)

Angora Deposit: $100 (Average Price Range: $300-350)

Lionhead Deposit: $50 (Average Price Range: $100-150.)

Holland Lop Deposit: $50 (Average Price Range: $100-150)

I will not promise a rabbit to anyone until I have received their deposit!

I DO NOT sell any breed of rabbit for under $100. Rabbits tend to be impulse buy pets much like kittens and other small pocket pets. One way to prevent my rabbits from going to impulse buy families is by not selling them for under $100. This ensures that a buyer has put thought into the purchase and can also afford supplied and care after purchase.

Deposits are made by check or money order and sent to my home address. I also have a Paypal account! PayPal is great because it’s instant and you don’t have to worry about someone else’s deposit beating yours while yours is still in the process of being mailed. If you choose to use PayPal, I ask that you use the family/friend option to avoid the service charge. If not, the service charge will be added to your balance at pick up. Once a mailed deposit is received it will be cashed within one week. The remaining amount for a bunny is due at the time of pick up, no acceptation’s! A bunny will not leave my home unless the balance is paid. Deposit receipts are emailed only and are sent as soon as I receive the deposit payment.

Please contact me to inquire about a bunny and I will forward you my mailing address if you would prefer to mail your deposit.

Ellie’s Rabbitry’s PayPal email address is: Again, please use the family/friend option to avoid the service fee, if not the service fee will be added to your balance at pick upIn order to be put on the waiting list the buyer must provide me with a phone number, e-mail address and mailing address so I can put that info on the waiting list too. Your information will of course be kept confidential. If you choose to send a deposit via PayPal you must email me your full name, mailing address and phone number. I will not have a way of contacting you if you simply send a deposit via PayPal,  it must be followed up by an email with that information, too.

I can refuse the sale of a rabbit to anyone at anytime with no explanation. I will not sell a rabbit unless I am sure they will be well taken care of. If I refuse a sale I WILL refund your deposit in full.

I typically have several babies at a time but if the gender or color you were hoping for is not born, I will put your name on the next waiting list. If you pay a deposit YOU WILL receive a bunny and I try my best to give every buyer a rabbit they love.

*I cannot offer discounts for multiple rabbits.

Rabbits are animals so they are often unpredictable. I do my best to breed a rabbit but sometimes I have a bunny not give birth to a healthy litter or not give birth at all. Because of this, I cannot guarantee I will have a baby for you at the expected waiting list time but I try my very hardest not let customers down. For example, you may be signed up on the Easter waiting list and then because of an unexpected shortage of babies I may have to sadly move you to the next waiting list. This does happen occasionally so your patience is appreciated.

First come first serve. I have several breeding does and I never know exactly what color or gender their kits will be. So, the sooner I get your deposit the higher up on the list you will be, allowing you to have more choices when it comes to color and gender!

How buyers pick their babies: At a month of age I take photos of each baby and load them onto a word document with a description and price next to each baby’s photos. I email the word document to each buyer in the order of the waiting list. The buyer than responds to the email and lets me know which baby they have chosen. I then delete that baby off the word document and send the remaining photos to the next person on the waiting list. This process takes only a few days to complete and is the most efficient and fair way for people to choose their bunnies. Buyers are notified in advanced so they know when to expect the document to be emailed to them. They are expected to choose as quickly as possible as to not hold up the process and not keep excited buyers waiting to choose their bunny. People are welcome to come before the document is sent out to see what babies they will have to choose from. Again, because of the waiting list I cannot let someone come and pick out a bunny until the people before them on the waiting list have chosen.

All Mini Plush Lops come with a birth certificate and care packet. Full pedigrees are available upon request for an additional $35.00 charge. A Full pedigree gives a potential breeder the ability to prove that they have a purebred Mini Plush Lop and allows them to price a pure bred Mini Plush Lop kit appropriately.

Lionheads come with care packet and a birth certificate or pedigree upon request.

Angoras come with a care packet and birth certificate or Pedigree upon request.

Holland Lops come with a care packet and birth certificate or Pedigree upon request.

All rabbits must retain the prefix “Ellie’s Rabbitry” on their pedigrees.

Pick Up: Once a buyer and I discuss a convenient pick up date, if the buyer does not pick up their rabbit within 7 days I will have to award the rabbit to the next person on my waiting list. Deposits are not refunded. If a buyer is not able to pick up their bunny within a week of weaning age I can hold a bunny for a small daily fee to cover food and care costs as long as it is previously planned beforehand and the time does not exceed a month. If after a month I will put the buyers name on the next waiting list.

Shipping: Shipping is expensive but doable. No matter what part of the country a bunny may be going, shipping is generally the same price which is around $400.00. I do not make a profit off shipping charges. All rabbits leave Bluegrass Airport in Lexington, Kentucky. Shipping includes a one way ticket to your bunnies destination via Delta Airlines, an airline approved hard plastic crate, food and water trays and a pre-flight vet check as well as veterinarian signed paper work that is required by Delta Airlines. Driving to Kentucky to pick up your bunny is always better! I have had people drive very long distances to pick up their new rabbit and it is always worth it! Plus Kentucky is beautiful, make a vacation out of it!

Deposits when shipping rabbits: (Depending on the breed: Mini Plush Lop: $100 English Angora: $100 Lionhead: $50) The normal deposit amount is required to be put on the waiting list, the remaining balance of the rabbit must be provided before the rabbit goes to the airport. The full amount of the shipping expense (around $400) must be paid before I purchase the airline tickets and crate. I typically buy the ticket and crate two weeks before you would like the rabbit shipped to you. Delta will not refund pet tickets, therefore I must have the shipping amount before I purchase the tickets and crate. I will work closely with customers planning to ship a rabbit to make sure it’s an easy process. I don’t let freshly weaned babies fly, they get to stay at the rabbitry an additional two weeks to make the flying process less stressful for them. I can ship up to two bunnies in one crate, the only fee that will be doubled is the vet visit.

As soon as I drop a bunny off at the airport and it is no longer in my care, it is now the buyers responsibility. I cannot monitor or take responsibility for anything that happens to your bunny once it is no longer in my possession. I cannot guarantee a safe flight for your bunny. I cannot refund a buyers money nor can I replace a bunny that does not make it to their final destination. Again, I prefer bunnies to be picked up at my home, shipping a bunny is at the buyers risk.

I offer a Conditional Warranty. I WILL NOT sell a rabbit to anyone if I feel there is a health issue. My goal is to breed happy, healthy rabbits and have happy satisfied buyers. If a rabbit dies or becomes ill within 5 days, I will either refund the customer or give the customer a new rabbit. Only IF I feel there has not been any harm or lack of proper care for the rabbit. Buyers must bring the deceased rabbit to me for inspection to make sure the rabbit did not die because of neglect or injury.  I will make sure each buyer feels confident and comfortable taking their new rabbit home before they leave. I have never had any issues in the past with rabbits being sold with health problems.

I WILL NOT refund the cost of a rabbit if a buyer later decided a rabbit isn’t a good fit for their family or they are no longer able to care for it. I will also not refund a rabbit if a family doesn’t feel the rabbit is well behaved. Bunnies are like puppies and can pick up bad habits if not properly disciplined.

It is difficult to sex a rabbit at weaning age, mistakes are always possible. I encourage and expect buyers to also check the sex and health of the rabbit before purchase. I am not obligated to exchange a rabbit because of a sex error but I will consider it if it is brought to my attention within a reasonable time-line.

I always try to take back unwanted rabbits from Ellie’s Rabbitry.  The rabbit will not be refunded. The rabbit will need to come with the cage he/she was living in because I do not have unlimited cage space. I also ask that the rabbit be returned with it’s birth certificate or pedigree. I may not accept a rabbit back if I suspect it is ill, I cannot risk the health of the rest of my rabbits by taking in a sick rabbit. My rabbit house is small so space is limited, I may not be able to fulfill this offer if I don’t have enough room in my rabbit house.

Mini Plush Lop Pricing:

Prices vary depending on each individual Mini Plush Lop rabbit. Some are born with more unique colors and traits. Some have higher fur quality and a more desirable body type which also plays role in determining a Mini Plush Lops price. Sizes also vary, the smaller the bunny the more expensive.

Mini Plush Lops average price range is between $250-300. Occasionally, there are higher priced rabbits that are breeding quality or have unique traits like blue eyes or rare colors. The $100 deposit goes towards the final price of your bunny, it is NOT an extra charge! Rabbit prices are determined at 1 month of age.

Every litter is different and it is very difficult to determine quality, size and color before one month of age. I may advertise litters to be in a certain price range but it is always subject to change after seeing how kits mature. I can only estimate what a litter cost will be based off of previous litters born to a particular pairing of rabbits.

Occasionally I have pricing specials posted on my Facebook page.  Unique colors and traits as well as size all increase the price of an individual rabbit. If I have discounted rabbits for any reason they are offered for sale via facebook.

I cannot guarantee a Mini Plush Lops ears will drop. 95% of the time they drop at about 2 to 3 months of age. On rare occasions they do not completely fall due to a tight crown or narrow space between the ears.  Unfortunately there is no way for me to tell ahead of time if a bunnies ears will fall. As a breeder I strive to produce rabbits that meet the breed standard but I cannot refund a bunny if its ears fail to drop. Mini Plush Lops are a very small breed of rabbit. Sometimes one will grow larger than expected, this can be due to a few reasons including being over fed or if bred they will get larger and go over the expected 2-4 pounds. I will not refund an animal if it exceeds these weight expectations only because I do not know how they are fed or if they have been bred after they leave my care. Mini Plush Lops coat quality varies and it is impossible to know what their coat will truly be like before they have their first molt. I cannot guarantee fur quality, only predict it.
