Ellie's Rabbitry Sales Agreement

If a rabbit is purchased it will be assumed that you have read and agree to the terms and conditions of this agreement.

Before placing a deposit, please keep in mind the responsibility, years of commitment and expense to take care of an animal.

Do not purchase an animal for your child unless you are willing to care for it if your child loses interest. Do not purchase an animal if there is a chance that your schedule will become too busy in the future to properly care for your animal. These are all things that should be considered before placing a deposit. Please explore our website and do as much research as possible before committing to purchasing a rabbit.

All rabbits are first come first serve. We will not promise or reserve a rabbit to anyone until we have received a deposit.

The balance of a bunny is due at pick up and must be paid in cash before leaving our home. Only when a customer is shipping a rabbit can the balance be paid via Venmo or PayPal. If a customer is unable to pick up their bunny within 7 days of pick up day, the total balance will be due on day 8 in order for us to continue to hold the rabbit. We are able to hold a rabbit for up to one month past the wean date if the final balance has been paid in full. The first two weeks of boarding past the wean date is free, beyond two weeks past the wean date there will be a boarding fee of $3 a day.

Time Frame Disclaimer

Because animals are unpredictable, we cannot guarantee that if you place a deposit for a particular waiting list, that you will receive a bunny from that waiting list. For example, if you place a deposit for the December waiting list and not all of our doe's end up having healthy, viable litters as expected, we may be short babies and have less babies than we do people on the waiting list. This rarely happens, but in the event that it does, we will rebreed immediately depending on the shortage or move you to the following waiting list. Deposits will not be refunded in these circumstances.

Sometimes with bigger litters, babies mature slower than usual because there is less milk to go around, or we occasionally just have some babies that need a couple extra weeks to mature. When placing a deposit, it is important to realize that even though we have a date that babies are expected to go home, it could change at any time. This is something to consider if you're purchasing a bunny as a gift and is needed by a certain date.

Sale Refusal

We will not sell a rabbit unless we are sure they will be well taken care of. We also may refuse a sale and return a deposit if we suspect that a Mini Plush Lop's spay/neuter contract will not be upheld. If a deposit has been paid and we refuse a sale, we WILL refund your deposit in full.

Warranty

We offer a Conditional Warranty for those that come to our home for pick-up.

Warranty is VOID if the customer chooses to ship a bunny. Every rabbit being shipped is required to get a health certificate which proves/certifies the health of the bunny before it leaves our rabbitry.  Shipping is at the customer's own risk.

Within 10 days of being picked up, I highly recommend taking your new bunny to your vet so they can become acquainted and so your bunny can receive a thorough check up. Ellie's Rabbitry is not liable for any medical expenses at any time for your bunny. If a vet finds any issues with your bunny within that 10-day period, we will refund you in full or replace your bunny if that is your wish.

We will not refund the cost of a rabbit if the family has a change of heart and decides later that a bunny is not a good fit for their family, if the family is no longer able to care for the bunny for any reason or they do not feel that the rabbit's behavior is what they were expecting. Rabbits are animals and personalities vary - it is the responsibility of the buyer to socialize and build a bond with their rabbit which in turn produces good behavior.

Because Mini Plush Lops are on a spay/neuter contract, it is required as stated in the contract, that any mini plush lop that is not spayed or neutered (under 6 months old) be returned to Ellie's Rabbitry no matter the circumstance unless a new possible owner that is found by the buyer is willing to sign the spay/neuter contract. Selling or giving away a mini plush lop to another person does not lift liability of the contract from the original buyer. Please see contract in its entirety at the bottom of this page.

We are happy to take back unwanted bunnies, no questions asked. If returned, it will need to come with the cage he/she was living in. I also ask that the rabbit be returned with its birth certificate or pedigree. I may not accept a rabbit back if I suspect it is ill, I cannot risk the health of the rest of my rabbits by taking in a sick rabbit.

Gender Mix Ups

It is difficult to sex a rabbit at a young age - when bunnies leave to go to their new homes, we are confident of their gender but not positive. Gender mix ups can and do happen unfortunately! We do not exchange or refund bunnies if there is a gender mix up.

How does the waiting list & picking process work?

The Waiting List

Once your deposit is placed, you are officially on the waiting list! You will receive a receipt via e-mail confirming your deposit. Once the litters arrive for your waiting list, we will periodically update you with an e-mail with photos.

Keep in mind that we are not confident in genders until babies are 6 to 7 weeks old, around the time we take their individual photos. We also cannot be definitive on colors until their fur grows in.

Some frustration that can occur when sharing update photos is those on the waiting list becoming attached to and start asking questions about one specific baby rabbit they spot in a photo. It's important to remember that we do have to work off a waiting list and babies are picked out in the order of the waiting list. It's best to be as patient as possible and refrain from becoming attached to one baby prematurely in case it is not available when it is your turn to pick out your bunny.

We breed several rabbits at a time at four different times during the year. Litters are typically ready to go to their new homes in April, June, September and December. If you place a deposit and don't see the perfect bunny, we can put your name on the top of the following waiting list. This does not necessarily mean you will be first on the next waiting list - in the instance that someone else from your waiting list that has placed a deposit before you also decides to jump to the following waiting list, they will get to pick from the next litters before you. Picking out bunnies is always done in the order of when deposits are received even if some opt to jump to a later waiting list.

It is important and appreciated to let us know via e-mail as soon as possible if you would like to postpone getting a rabbit once on a waiting list so we can continue to add people to the waiting list who are ready to get one. Once a waiting list is full, we stop accepting deposits for that round of litters. It gets a bit messy when several people change their mind about getting a bunny at the last minute because we had to reject deposits from others thinking that our waiting list was full. If you place a deposit and decide to be taken off a waiting list but are unsure when you would like to hop back on, no worries! Your deposit is valid for one year.

Once you place a deposit for a particular breed, you cannot later transfer your deposit to another breed waiting list. If a deposit is paid for multiple rabbits and it is later decided you would rather just purchase one, the second deposit is forfeited and cannot be applied towards the cost of one rabbit. A forfeited deposit can always go towards another rabbit at a later date.

How Buyers Pick their Bunnies

At 6 to 7 weeks of age Ellie takes photos of each baby and loads them onto a word document with a description and price next to each baby’s photos. We email the word document to each buyer in the order of the waiting list. The buyer then responds to the email and lets us know which baby they have chosen. We then delete that baby off the word document and send the remaining photos to the next person on the waiting list.

This process takes a few days to complete and is the most efficient and fair way for people to choose their bunnies. Buyers are notified in advanced, so they know when to expect the document to be emailed to them. They are expected to choose as quickly as possible. We try to send the document to 3-4 families per day as to not hold up the process and not keep excited buyers waiting to choose their bunny. It is the customers responsibility to make themselves available when it's their turn to pick out their bunny and it is also the customers responsibility to make a quick, prompt decision.

If the word document has been sent to you and we do not get a response to confirm that you have received it within a few hours, the document will continue to be forwarded to the next person on the waiting list! If you have received the document and chosen a rabbit by responding via email with your pick, the sale is considered final. Buyers receive update e-mails leading up to the document circulating, so everyone is well aware of when the document will begin circulating. Ellie contacts each person individually to let them know it's their turn.

We occasionally have extra bunnies! If you decide you would like two bunnies but have placed a deposit for only one, you can still place a second deposit for a second bunny, but you must provide a second deposit and choose the second rabbit after everyone else on the waiting list has chosen.

Ellie spends a lot of time taking nice photo of each rabbit for the word document - please be patient and do not request additional photos of the bunny you have chosen.

What Do Bunnies Come With?

Mini Plush Lops go home with a birth certificate that records the rabbit's gender, color, birthday, expected spay/neuter date and ID number. They also go home with an American Rabbit Breeders Club Registry Card that states authenticity of breed. Because Mini Plush Lops are not sold with breeding rights, a full pedigree is not offered.

Holland Lops go home with a full pedigree.

All rabbits go home with a baggie of transitioning feed.

Be sure to read up on the "Take Home Packet" page for info on what to do and what to expect when you bring your new bunny home!

Pick-Up

Buyers coming to our home for pick up is always preferred. This is a great opportunity to come with questions and get them answered! This also allows us to show you how to properly hold your bunny and show you a few other tips and tricks. Buyers must come prepared by bringing a pet taxi or animal crate to take your bunny home in. Click here to be taken to the Rabbit care page where we have some transport cage recommendations. A cardboard box is not an acceptable transport cage. Remember to also bring your remaining balance for your bunny!

Only cash is accepted to pay your bunnies balance if picking up in person

Mini Plush Lop Spay/Neuter Contract

The spay/neuter contract is e-mailed out a couple weeks before pick up day and should be scanned and e-mailed back to Ellie's Rabbitry or a hard copy must be brought when you arrive for pick up.

Should the buyer wish to sell or give away the rabbit before it is altered, it must be approved by Ellie's Rabbitry and a new contract must be signed by the new owner.
